1. Bài mẫu (Sample)

I’d like to talk about a podcast episode featuring Florence Pugh, who is one of my favourite actresses at the moment. She’s well known for her acting, but I also like her personality, so I was quite excited when I came across an episode of Dish featuring her.

I watched it online at home one evening. It’s a podcast hosted by Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett, where they invite guests to have a meal and chat about different things. The conversation with Florence covered topics such as food, family traditions, and her experiences as an actress. What I liked about it was that the atmosphere was quite relaxed, so it felt more like a friendly conversation than a formal interview.

The most memorable moment for me was when Nick accidentally dropped some of Angela’s roasted Brussels sprouts. Florence seemed genuinely upset and let out a loud “Nooooo!” because she’s such a big fan of Brussels sprouts. What made the moment even funnier was that she then picked them up and put them on her plate without hesitating. I honestly couldn’t stop laughing when I saw that.

I really enjoyed the episode because it showed a more down-to-earth side of Florence. Even though she’s a famous actress, she seemed like an ordinary person who genuinely enjoys good food. I also found her reaction quite adorable because it was so spontaneous and natural.

Overall, I thought the podcast was both entertaining and memorable. It made me like Florence even more, and it reminded me that sometimes, the little things people do can tell us a lot about their personalities.

Part 3:

1. What kinds of people are frequently interviewed?

I think celebrities, politicians, experts, and successful businesspeople are frequently interviewed. For example, actors are often invited to talk shows to promote their latest films, while experts may be interviewed to explain important issues to the public. In addition, ordinary people sometimes get interviewed when they have done something unusual or achieved something impressive. I think interviews are a good way for people to share their experiences and opinions with a wider audience.

    • a talk show (n): chương trình trò chuyện
    • to promote (v): quảng bá
    • expert (n): chuyên gia
    • unusual (adj): bất thường
    • audience (n): khán giả

    2. What kinds of things do famous people often say in an interview?

Famous people often talk about their careers, personal lives, and future plans. For instance, actors may discuss their latest projects and share interesting stories from filming. They might also talk about the challenges they have faced and the lessons they have learned along the way. I think some celebrities also use interviews to express their opinions on social issues or to promote causes they care about. However, they may avoid answering questions that are too personal because they want to protect their privacy.

      • personal life (n): cuộc sống cá nhân

      3. What can we do to get a job interview?

To get a job interview, I think the first thing we should do is prepare a clear and professional CV. It should highlight our relevant skills, qualifications, and work experience. We should also write a cover letter that explains why we are interested in the position and why we are suitable for it. Another useful step is to look for job opportunities on recruitment websites or through professional contacts. After submitting an application, if it matches what the employer is looking for, we may have a better chance of being invited to an interview.

        • to highlight (v): làm nổi bật
        • relevant (adj): liên quan
        • qualification (n): bằng cấp
        • a cover letter (n): thư xin việc
        • recruitment (n): việc tuyển dụng
        • to submit an application (v phr): nộp hồ sơ ứng tuyển
        • to match sth (v phr): phù hợp với

        4. What should people do to prepare for a job interview?

People should do some research on the company before attending a job interview. For example, they should learn about the company’s main activities, core values, and the position they are applying for. It’s also a good idea to practise answering common interview questions, such as questions about their strengths and weaknesses. On top of that, they should prepare a few questions to ask the interviewer. These steps can help them feel more confident and make a good impression on the employer.

          • to attend (v): tham gia
          • core value (n): giá trị cốt lõi
          • to apply for a position (v phr): ứng tuyển cho vị trí
          • strength and weakness (coll): điểm mạnh và điểm yếu
          • confident (adj): tự tin
          • a good impression (n phr): ấn tượng tốt

          5. Why do we need to attend interviews when applying for jobs?

I think job interviews are important because they allow employers to find out whether a candidate is suitable for a position. A CV can show someone’s qualifications and experience, but it doesn’t always tell the employer about their communication skills or personality. During an interview, employers can ask questions and see how candidates respond to different situations. At the same time, candidates can learn more about the job and the company. So, I believe interviews help both sides decide whether they are a good match.

          • communication skill (n): kỹ năng giao tiếp
          • to respond to sth (v): phản ứng trước điều gì đó
          • to be a good match (phr): phù hợp với nhau

          6. What should people wear to a job interview?

I think people should wear clean, neat, and appropriate clothes to a job interview. For office jobs, wearing a shirt with trousers or a simple dress is usually a safe choice. However, the best outfit may depend on the company and the type of job. For example, people applying for creative positions may be able to dress more casually than those applying for jobs in banking or law. Most importantly, people should look tidy and feel comfortable in what they wear because this can help them feel more confident.

          • neat (adj): gọn gàng
          • appropriate (adj): phù hợp
          • to dress casually (phr): ăn mặc thoải mái
          • tidy (adj): gọn gàng, chỉn chu
