1. What is your area of specialization?
Currently I am majoring in Business Administration, which incorporates various subjects such as marketing, economics and business management. I have always liked studying math so I would say I am on the right track as I’m doing pretty well at university.
2. Why did you choose to study that major?
Since I was little, I have always dreamed about becoming a boss operating a business of my own. That’s why I believe after completing my degree, I would be well-equipped to start opening a coffee shop in the city and soon realize my dream.
3. Do you like your major? (Why?/Why not?)
[>Yes] Absolutely, I have never regretted choosing Business Administration as my major one bit. Beside having considerate lecturers and classmates who’ve helped me improve my performance at school, I find the subjects extremely practical. Therefore, although some courses really gave me a hard time, they were very worthwhile.
[>No] I do enjoy a few subjects but for the most part, I don’t really find Business Administration that interesting. More importantly, I realized that I’m more of an imaginative person and I may lean towards jobs that require creativity or imagination like designer or illustrator. So, I think I could have chosen a major relating to art, which is really regretful now that I think about it.
4. What kind of school did you go to as a child?
I think I’m no different from most Vietnamese children as I also went to public schools from kindergarten until the end of my fifth grade. Although the facilities and amenities provided were not necessarily fascinating, I enjoyed having a lot of friends to talk to.
5. What was your favorite subject as a child?
Surprisingly, I considered myself a good singer back then. And since students were taught Music once a week, I remember that I loved every moment of my classes for a good five or six years. However, since my voice cracked because of puberty and singing is no longer my forte, music has stopped being enjoyable.
6. Do you think your country has an effective education system?
To be honest, I don’t think it is that effective as long as younger students, specifically those in secondary schools and highschools, have to study more than ten subjects in one semester, most of which won’t come in handy once they enter universities. For example, I found other subjects besides English and Literature useless when I studied English Language in my university.
7. Are you looking forward to working?
I’m well aware of the challenging world of employment. However, I never say no to challenges and I’m ready for my abilities and determination to be tested. Moreover, I think working would definitely be a way to toughen myself up so I could become a better version of myself. So yes, I’m really looking forward to it.
