Some people believe that a lot of scientific research done today is a waste of time and money. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Introduction
- một số người cho rằng nhiều nghiên cứu khoa học hiện nay tốn thời gian + tiền bạc
- stance: mostly disagree
- lý do: dù có nghiên cứu thiếu thực tế, khoa học vẫn tạo ra lợi ích lớn cho xã hội
Body 1: Counterargument – Some research may be wasteful
- Counterargument: một số nghiên cứu khoa học có thể bị xem là lãng phí
- Support 1: một số dự án quá lý thuyết / xa rời đời sống → khó tạo ứng dụng thực tế ngay lập tức
- Support 2: nếu funding bị quản lý kém → tiền công có thể bị dùng cho dự án trùng lặp, thiếu giá trị hoặc không có kết quả rõ ràng
- Refutation: nhưng không nên đánh giá nghiên cứu chỉ dựa trên lợi ích ngắn hạn
- Support refutation 1: nhiều phát hiện khoa học cần thời gian dài mới ứng dụng được → ví dụ: vaccine, internet, công nghệ y tế
- Support refutation 2: nghiên cứu cơ bản tạo nền tảng cho phát minh tương lai → nếu chỉ tài trợ nghiên cứu “có lợi ngay”, xã hội sẽ mất cơ hội đột phá lớn
Body 2: Scientific research is valuable

Conclusion:
- Thừa nhận một số nghiên cứu có thể không hiệu quả

2. Bài mẫu
In both education and employment, some individuals consistently exert greater effort than those around them. This difference is largely driven by personal ambition and external pressure. Although working hard is generally beneficial, I do not believe it is invariably a good thing, particularly when it comes at the expense of physical and mental well-being.
There are two main reasons why certain people work more diligently than others. First, highly motivated individuals often have clearly defined goals. Students who aim to obtain scholarships or gain admission to prestigious universities are likely to devote considerably more time to their studies. Likewise, employees who aspire to secure promotion or advance professionally may willingly take on additional responsibilities. A strong sense of purpose therefore encourages people to remain disciplined and persistent, even when they encounter setbacks. Second, some individuals work hard because of financial necessity and intense competition. Those who need to support their families or achieve economic stability may feel compelled to outperform their peers. Similarly, in a highly competitive labour market, fear of unemployment or professional stagnation can push workers to make exceptional efforts.
It is often argued that working hard is inherently desirable. Sustained effort can help people acquire expertise, improve their performance and achieve academic or professional success. It may also cultivate valuable qualities such as self-discipline, resilience and perseverance. Nevertheless, excessive effort can become counterproductive. People who regularly sacrifice sleep, recreation and personal relationships for work are more vulnerable to chronic stress and occupational burnout. Over time, this can damage both their health and quality of life. Furthermore, working longer hours does not necessarily lead to greater productivity. Fatigue can impair concentration, creativity and decision-making, meaning that exhausted individuals may accomplish less despite spending more time at work.
In conclusion, people tend to work harder because of personal aspirations, financial obligations and competitive pressure. However, hard work is only beneficial when it is sustainable and accompanied by adequate rest, effective working methods and a healthy work-life balance.
